Struct CharIndex 

pub struct CharIndex(pub usize);

A character (Unicode scalar) offset into a string.

Counts characters, not bytes, so it is independent of the UTF-8 encoding. Not to be confused with ByteIndex. See also super::cursor::CCursor.
